    Riddle me this.

I bet most of you have heard these but I figured we might as well have a riddle thread.

Mountains will crumble and temples will fall, and no man can survive its endless call. What is it?

    Time

Black I am and much admired, men seek me until they're tired. When they find me, they break my head, and take from me my resting bed. What am I

    Coal

What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it,
The rich don't need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?

    Nothing

I talk, but I do not speak my mind
I hear words, but I do not listen to thoughts
When I wake, all see me
When I sleep, all hear me
Many heads are on my shoulders
Many hands are at my feet
The strongest steel cannot break my visage
But the softest whisper can destroy me

    An actor

    And a stupid one.
    What has wheels and flies?

    Dumpster/ Garbage truck

    Bold are answered

    Italics are unanswered riddles

The last one is a dirty car/bus/truck etc.

"What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it,
The rich don't need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?"

    Answer: Nothing

"Black I am and much admired, men seek me until they're tired. When they find me, they break my head, and take from me my resting bed. What am I"

Answer: I would guess coal, but I'm probably wrong there.
Whatever you do, don't think of the children.
    They can hear your thoughts.

    It's an actor.

    I have one

Weight in my belly, trees on my back,
Nails in my sides, feet I do lack,
    What am I?

A ship? or perhaps a birdfeeder...

I run, though I have no legs to be seen. I possess no heat, yet I do have steam. I have no voice to let words out, but from far away you can still hear me shout. What am I?

What goes down the cellar with four legs, but comes back with eight?

    ------------------------

    and my personal favorite:

Without a bridle, or a saddle, across a thing I ride a-straddle. And those I ride, by help of me, though almost blind, are made to see. What am I?

    Hazgys has mine with ship.

"I run, though I have no legs to be seen. I possess no heat, yet I do have steam. I have no voice to let words out, but from far away you can still hear me shout. What am I?"

    Answer: A Waterfall

"What goes down the cellar with four legs, but comes back with eight?"

Answer: A Mouser (Tricky, but I've heard it before.) Now have some more!

I have many feathers, to help me fly. I have a body and a head, but I'm not alive. It is your strength which determines how far I will go, and you can hold me in your hand, but I'm never thrown.
    What am I?

    Answer: An Arrow

In a burning house, this thing is best to make, but you'd better make it fast, before the fire's too much to take.

    Answer: Haste

I love the next one. Say it out loud, it rolls off thew tongue quite nicely.

    Often talked of, never seen,
    Ever coming, never been,
    Daily looked for, never here,
    Still approaching, coming near,
    Thousands for it's visit wait,
    but alas, for their fate.
Though they expect me to appear,
They will never find me here.
    What am I?

    Answer: Tomorrow

    right on two counts

I have many feathers, to help me fly. I have a body and a head, but I'm not alive. It is your strength which determines how far I will go, and you can hold me in your hand, but I'm never thrown.

    What am I?
    Tomorrow?

haven't got a clue with the other one

I am sometimes strong and sometimes weak, but I am nobody's fool. For there is no language that I cannot speak, though I never went to school. What am I?

    Quite right Poof.

"Always old, sometimes new, never sad, sometimes blue. Never empty, sometimes full, never pushes, always pulls."

    Answer: The moon.

Today I am here to trip you up and I will torture you tomorrow.
Yet I am also here to heal the pain when you are lost in grief and sorrow.
    What am I?

You hear me speak, for I have a hard tongue
But I cannot breathe, for I have no lungs
    What am I?

    Answer: A Bell

    I stand beside the road,
In a purple cap and a tattered green robe
Those who touch me, curse me
    What am I?

    Answer: A Thisle

What is Fictionpost?

Fictionpost is a community of writers. Our slogan is "Where Writers Unite". Some of us are published, and some of us merely write for fun. But there is one constant: We all love the written word.

We've been around for a number of years. Writers have come, and writers have gone. Join us if you like, or simply pass us by. But know that we'll always be here, because we're not going anywhere.

And you'll always be welcome.

What do we do?

We help each other, whether through commenting on, or critiquing posted work, or through simply discussing writing techniques. The community is key - Fictionpost is not a service, but a collection of individuals with a common passion.
